Overview

 
 

a 4-day bespoke course mixing classroom training, Virtual Reality, and In Real Life simulation (HEAT Equivalent)

A sector-leading 4-day course, delivered via traditional classroom training, VR scenarios and complex, established real life scenarios, tailored to the threat exposure of the client. The course is delivered at a residential facility in Kettering, Northamptonshire using experienced trainers supported by a team of actors for the simulations and state of the art VR equipment with VR scenarios embedded into the learning experience. Trauma first Aid training and scenarios are included - in the event of a serious incident in a high-risk location, a basic understanding of trauma first aid saves lives. DHC works with leading complex-environment first aid trainers for the 4-day course, which includes testing of participant skills in first aid scenarios on the final day. 

This course can be offered as a 3-day option without Emergency First Aid.


Day 1 – Threats, Risk and Stress

Introduction to managing risks while recognising triggers for stress and mitigation measures, using VR to create a realistic situation in a safe environment. Areas covered may include:

  • Context awareness & actor mapping

  • Identifying threats

  • Understanding strengths and vulnerabilities of different personal profiles

  • Developing risk awareness considering probability and impact

  • Understanding typical and personal triggers for stress and creating appropriate mitigation measures.

  • Introduction to Emergency First Aid


Day 2 & 3– Mitigating Specific Threats

A detailed examination of mitigation and response to specific risks faced by the client organisation’s travellers and their personal profiles as identified.  These may include:

  • travel

  • accommodation,

  • sexual violence

  • civil unrest

  • digital (with VR scenario)

  • detention / abduction

  • fire safety

  • Emergency First Aid


Day 4– Simulation Day and Review

A team of actors create a series of linked scenarios, all of which are experienced by small teams of participants, starting the day with a VR simulation.  Scenarios will be tailored to the client and can include:

  • the aftermath of an earthquake

  • active shooting during a community discussion

  • road checkpoint discipline, corruption and fraud

  • intense negotiation with authority representatives 

  • road traffic accident with Emergency First Aid
